THIS model is designed in response to a number of requests for a large model of a relatively small prototype of the cabin cruiser type; in order to keep the size of the model to within portable bounds, we have elected to draw our own interpretation of a 72 ft. small motor yacht, which, at 3/4 in= 1 ft., produces a 54 in. hull with 12 in. maximum beam, displacing something in the order of 35 lbs. or so. To appeal to as wide a field as possible, a choice of construction has been provided there are, in fact, at least five ways of building the hull, which itself is shown as two different hulls! To take the hull as primarily envisaged, it is a round bilge shape of easy sections which is quite easy to plank in the normal way. Alternatively, stringers can be fitted and the hull planked diagonally. Waterlines are given in case you fancy bread- and-buttering or making a mould for glass fibre. A complete body plan for a hard chine hull (retaining sheer and plan shape unaltered) is provided, so that you can build in the usual pry-covered way or diagonal plank if you prefer.
