Space-Rod was created in 1957. I use the word created rather than designed, because Space-Rod was evolved from Sal Taibi's Spacer and Ron St. Jean's Ramrod. Hence the name of Space-Rod.

  To' prove to myself that the Space-Rod could be built and flown with success by others, I made up plans for my son, Vie Jr., and Gary Duncan. Both were in the Senior age class, and between them they set ten national records (to date). I believe six are still current marks. Each time I developed a new size and class Space-Rod Vie Jr. and Gary would build one to prove out the accuracy and adjustments.

  To indicate the simplicity of the Space-Rod design, the warp free construction, and the tried and proven flying adjustments-Vie Jr. and Gary Duncan under the present 1959-60 A.M.A. rules hold every national record in the Senior Class Free Flight-Rise Off Water and F.A.I., except Senior A Free Flight!
