Control Line Stunter

WINGSPAN 56”

ENGINE .46

by Steve Ashby

"Typhoon" had been originally designed as an interceptor, but due to its structural and engine failures, its potential value was seriously doubted. Ironically the "Focke Wolf 190" saved the "Typhoon" from being shelved, for this German fighter was out classing the "Spitfire V" and for that matter any other RAF aircraft at this period in time, thus the "Typhoon's development was accelerated. During testing it was discovered that below 10,000 feet hardly any aircraft could match its capabilities. With the "Typhoon's" weakness being above 10,000, its role turned solely to ground support in which it became "one of the most outstanding if not notorious of all close support fighters."

With such an illustrious background I couldn't help but to try to capture this beauty in a semi-scale stunter. Could I design it to stunt specifications but still not destroy the scale effect in the process?

I furiously grabbed my slate and crayons and started to scribble down some lines. With anticipation building I measured, drew, .figured, then measured and drew some more. When at last I had finished I stepped back to admire my masterpiece.
