by Leonard Jones

The Rother class lifeboat is a twin screw diesel engined boat, and carries the most modern electronic equipment, such as radar, VHF radio, MF radio, echo sounder, and RDF, in addition to all the usual life saving gear. It's one piece superstructure includes the wheelhouse, engine room casing, and survivors' compartment. It has a displacement of 13 tons, a speed of 8 knots, a range of 154 nautical miles, and carries a crew of seven.

It was decided to build the model to a scale of 3/4 in to 1ft resulting in a hull 28 inches long by 85/8 inches beam, and to employ double diagonal plank on frame construction, as in the Thank You for Looking
