THESE ARE REPRODUCTIONS OF A 1943 and 1951 PLAN

FIRE FIGHTING CAR

This car was built and designed in the shops of the New York Central System to fill a specific need: to combat fire along the NYC's right-of-way and among NYC equipment. It contains all the necessary materials to fight fire including water, hoses and a fire-fighting crew. The prototype car is stored around terminal points where local fire protection is poor.

O GAUGE

TROLLEY LENGTH 12 ”

WIDTH 2 1/2”

1951 by JAMES BERGE

1943 UNKNOWN

This unusual piece of rolling stock was fabricated from other equipment by the New York Central System. Basically, this "freak" consists of a tender mounted on a conventional Flat Car body. The box-car like enclosure was added for protection and living quarters for the fire· fighting crew. Note that the roof extends over tender.

In miniature form, this car can be built from scrap materials; and there's plenty of 'room for detail to satisfy the most critical of builders.
