Air-sea rescue launches, particularly during World War II, sometimes featured Boulton Paul turrets equipped with .303 machine guns for defense against enemy aircraft, with some later versions incorporating heavier caliber weapons. 

Aircraft World War II British fighter aircraft, featured a powered dorsal turret equipped with four .303-inch (7.7 mm) Browning machine guns, designed to intercept and destroy enemy bombers.
