Two years ago I was approached by a fisherman in Northumberland to construct a model of his idea of an ideal type of boat. Also the prototype for a full size vessel. Hence this model was evolved, and named Crystal River.
The purpose of the vessel is a side and pair trawler. Pair trawling is two vessels working abreast sharing the catch, with each boat trawling the net, hence the two gallows aft. The towing post is used for stern trawling. Provision is made for crabbing, also herring fishing.
