Construction is quite simple and conventional for this type of hull, except for the chine strips which are not, however, difficult. The drawing gives the essentials; the keel is 3/8 in. ply with 3/8 in. doubling between the bulkheads, which are 3/16 in. ply. The hull is single-skin planked, fore and aft, with 1/8 in. spruce, as is the deck, and 1/4 x 1/2 in. spruce stringers (two each side plus inwale) facilitate this. Although this may seem rather on the hefty side, the weight is not excessive - just about 13 lbs. You may wish to build from fiberglass

The prototype was designed by G. L. Watson of Glasgow and is 45 ft. long and 15 ft. beam. A round bilge hull form was used, fitted with a number of spray strips, like narrow clinker planks

upside down, on the wetted hull area. This innovation, christened a ragged chine, caused considerable speculation and interest in the full-size world, and was discussed in various articles in such publications as Motor Boat and Yachting.

I was fortunate in obtaining drawings and the permission of the designer to build a model; the scale is 1/12 and the power unit a Merco 61 series Il.
