The Saint Class tugs were 142 ft. 9 in. overall x 30 ft. 3 in. broad x 14 ft. 6 in. draught. The triple expansion engines had cylinders of 18t in., 28t in. and 48* in. by 28 in. stroke and gave 1200 ihp. The bunker capacity was 240 tons. They .were classed 100.A1. at Lloyds. Although they were built to a standard design to standard dimensions, they were built at various yards and there were differences. It would seem that some of them were not used for salvage work and they have no main mast with lifting boom, no salvage anchor on the platform on the stern; the salvage pumps and hatch are missing, and on some there is no radio room-cum-charthouse aft of the wheelhouse. Many of them were not equipped with the 12 pdr. gun forward.
As a 1/4 in.= 1 ft. model the Saint tug will be 351/2 in long x 7 1/2 in. beam, and will have a displacement of about 16 lb. A 3/8 in. = 1 ft. model would be magnificent but with a weight of about 54 lb. it might be a bit of an armful!
