WEIGHING less than 16 ounces, this 161/2 in. long sleek model hydroplane with its battery‑powered outboard motor will speed along at well over 30 scale miles per hour. It's a one‑eighth scale model of William D. Jackson's famous high‑speed hydroplane Hasty Hornet appearing in Boat Builder's Handbook, Vol. 6. When not in use, Hasty Hornet Jr. makes a fine display model for desk or fireplace mantel.

Construction of the model is similar to that of the prototype, except for a few changes made to simplify the framework assembly. Instead of using a separate building form to assemble the framework as with the full‑size version, a 1/4in‑square center beam (Fig. 1) is used to position the frames on.
