A TORPEDO was decided on as a basis for a simple, unusual yet elegant model which could be built in the minimum of time. The basic design of a working model torpedo was described by Rex Beebee in April, 1961 Radio Control Models and Electronics. His torpedoes were built from wood and Paxolin tubing and could be launched from a remotely controlled M.T.B. I have re-designed a working torpedo around the recently introduced Mabuchi S 1 submersible power unit; this torpedo can be either launched manually or, indeed, from a radio controlled boat should one be available. Description. The body of the torpedo is made from 1 1/8 in. o.d. Paxolin tubing and the rounded nose is turned from discs of thick plywood glued together. The Paxolin body houses the battery on/off switch, and wiring connecting to the motor assembly which is Araldited into the rear section of Paxolin tubing. To minimise the risk of leakage, the on/off switch is completely self-contained within the torpedo and is operated by removing an external magnet. Construction of the switch is not, however, difficult

Paxolin is not readily available in United States  You may substitute thin aluminum or plastic tubing
