3 Channel Radio

Two Electric Motors

By Tom Andrews

Construction of the model consumed vast quantities of .030 thou. plastic card, basically forming a large. elongated letter M in cross section, as per drawing. The impellor fan (now a new one with larger diameter) was mounted horizontally mid-ships and the outlets from the plenum chamber taken into the underneath of the craft. At this point I feel I should mention that the position of the fan appears to make little difference to the lifting of the craft and that the expected torque reaction - i.e. the model attempting to revolve about its axis did not appear (possibly due to drag from the not very efficient initial Skirts}. Radio equipment comprising AX and three serves were mounted right aft against the stern. These control the rudder, motor (forward and reverse) and the elevator - this last function is used to trim the craft fore and aft, After the simple construction of the hull.
