The highlights in the life of the Tribal class destroyer which leapt to overnight fame in the early days of the war, plus a 1/10 scale (38in.) simply-built model
HMS Cossack was a Tribal-class destroyer named after the Cossack people of the Russian and Ukrainian steppe.
Length 364 ft 8 in Beam 36 ft 6 in Speed 36.2 knots
The somewhat unusual scale of 1/10 in.-1 ft. was chosen because this brings the overall length (38 in.) within the most popular size range. We have increased the draught, which in scale would be almost exactly 1 in., and would suggest deepening it still further if other than very lightweight equipment is contemplated. With the exceptionally high length/ beam ratio (over 10 : 1) common to destroyers, some slight roll is likely except under relatively calm conditions, and it will therefore pay to keep top weight down to a minimum.
