By John Pritchard

For the subject of my drawings this month I have chosen to illustrate the craft which was under the command of F/Lt R. 'Spencer, a schoolmaster. who had formerly served in the Merchant Navy after gaining his pilots "wings" with the RFC in the first World War. I have reproduced HSL 120 as closely as I can to her appearance at the time that she accompanied Admiral Wake-Walker to Dunkirk on the night of June 3-4th 1940, when he went across to complete the final act of that epic event. Under the Command of F/Lt Spencer, HSL 120 was allotted the task of acting as the Admiral's "remount barge" should his own craft become unserviceable for any reason. I am most grateful to Bob Spencer for all his help regarding details of his craft, and to George Dewar, who served on HSL 121 at Newhaven in those early days.
