Build an accurate scale model of the historic Long Tom Cannon of 1812, based on the original plans and article by Hi Sibley. The full‑size cannon stands today at the Riverside Mission Inn in California, and this project reproduces it at 1/12 scale (1" = 1 ft).

Finished Model Dimensions:

  • Overall length: 9½" (1/12 scale)

Project Details:

  • Barrel is turned from solid brass with a ½" bore
  • Fuse hole: 1/32"
  • Trunnions: press‑fit through the barrel
  • Hoist handles secured with miniature bolts (1/32" × ½", 80 TPI)
  • Carriage/frame built from 3/8" maple
  • A rewarding precision project for the experienced model builder
