The prototype is a 6 pdr. used during the American civil war. There was of course no standardisation in those days and although this form of field gun was common, details and proportions varied considerably. Some guns were quite plain as this model, others were highly decorated.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\"\u003eModels of these guns are most attractive, particularly when made in polished wood and metal, and the description which follows is based on this finish. All sizes referred to are for a 3\/4 in. = 1 ft. scale model.
